- Passing requirements: 50% of maximal combined score from
homework, midterm and final.
- Textbooks: Neal Koblitz: A course in number theory and
cryptography, 2nd edition. Springer 1998.
- Homework: Some homework problems will consist of writing
programs in a computer algebra language, as for example "Mathematica".
There is a variety of computer labs on campus
(see
http://ic.ucsc.edu/labs/). All machines should have "Mathematica".
But you are free to use any other software that allows basic
algebraic manipulations.
