- Problem sessions: F 10:30-12, JBE 379.
- Preliminaries: Knowledge of the group theory part from Algebra I (Math 200). For your convenience, here the part of my notes from 2008. No knowledge of representation theory is necessary.
- Syllabus
- Textbook: I will use my own notes. They are completely self contained. But you might want to look into other textbooks:
- Aschbacher: Finite Group Theory; Cambridge University Press.
- Gorenstein: Finite Groups; Chelsea.
- Hall: Theory of Groups; Chelsea.
- Isaacs: Finite Group Theory; AMS.
- Robinson: A Course in the Theory of Groups; Springer.
(Isaacs' book is particularly suited to complement the representation theory of finite groups.)
- Homework Problems
- Lecture Notes: Sections 1-15.
